About

Eleanor Nelson is an Omaha based comic artist and illustrator. She creates autofiction comics that focus on her experiences growing up queer and her anxieties within relationships. By writing and creating these comics, she hopes to create the stories that she had wished to read while growing up.

Outside of comics, Nelson focuses on watercolor paintings that display her youthful nostalgia and imagination as well as tarot based works in watercolor monotypes. Playing with the different mark making techniques with watercolor in both painting and printmaking is her favorite way to explore through her work.

Nelson has a passion for teaching children how to make their own comics, and has taught a variety of workshops, including workshops at the Durham Museum and Parker Core Knowledge Charter School.

She has shown her work in a variety of shows, including shows at the University of Nebraska Omaha and the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art. Nelson has also curated her own group show, with the goal of making sure illustration has a home in the fine arts.
